Why I Don’t Buy Into Diet Culture

Still, there are so many diet myths and trends making their way around social media. If you are struggling with losing weight and your relationship with food, I hear you. Back in my late teens/early twenties, I had a terrible relationship with food. I never used to be able to eat a chocolate bar or a treat without feeling guilty immediately after. Not to mention the endless amounts of diets I tried back then. Unfortunately, Diet culture still exists everywhere. As a Women’s Online Coach, Women’s Personal Trainer and expert in Pre and Postnatal fitness I want to empower women to go against this.

I don’t believe in restricting foods and removing carbs from your diet. So many women who seek help from me have tried these two things in the past and they haven’t worked. I believe in a balanced diet full of all types of foods including the ones you love, everything in moderation is key.

In order to have a healthy relationship with food, we must look a little deeper at the emotions associated with certain eating habits, triggers and environment. Only then you will make long-lasting changes.

Many women assume my diet is full of ‘clean’ food and a takeaway never passes my lips. This could not be further away from the truth. I love my food, I love cooking and I love going out for dinner with Brett to try out new restaurants. Over the years I have spent time understanding some of the myths I used to hold over dieting and my relationship with food. As a busy mummy, it is so important I fuel my body the right way in order for me to exercise the way I like to, to have the energy to chase after my children and be as productive as I can be in my business. Time and time again I see women suffering from tiredness due to extreme low calories.

What I stand for:

  1. Empowering women especially mothers to take care of themselves without feeling guilty

  2. Making health and fitness accessible to women using my easy and sustainable approach

  3. No fads and no filters. We are all different shapes and sizes. There are no size fits and there is no perfect way. When working with my clients on a 1:1 basis I strive to achieve a high level of coaching which includes a bespoke and suitable programme to follow

  4. Fitness needs to be fun. Find an exercise you enjoy then you will stick to it

  5. Mindset is key. Taking time for your mental health and mindset is just as important as your fitness and nutrition

  6. Leading by example and practising what I preach. What I tell my clients to do; I live and breathe every day as a mother of two children. I want to show as many other mothers as possible they too can do the same
