Weight Loss Tips When Your Schedule is Crazy!
Losing weight isn’t easy and can be incredibly hard when you have poorly children at home or work is super busy. It can be very easy to neglect everything and admit defeat. I think the most important thing to remember is when life gets busy to never neglect our basic self-care rituals as busy mums. We need to recognise our health is a priority and that we cannot support others when we are pouring from an empty cup. Here are some tips to try and help you stay on track during crazy times
Make a plan. Start by making a food plan for the week ahead. Plan your meals including lunches and spend the weekend getting ready for the week ahead. Bulk cooking saves time and makes things more affordable too.
Don’t miss meals. Do not skip meals or wait until you are too hungry to eat. If you do this you will end up making less healthy choices and/or want to eat everything in sight.
Prioritise vegetables. When you are extremely busy rather than focusing on what you are not doing, focus on filling your plate with green veggies. Prepare things like quick salads, bulk cook vegetables (roasted veggies are my fav) and stir-fry are super quick too.
Keep protein high. Focus on including 20g of protein with every meal to help with satiety levels and keep you feeling fuller for longer, especially on those busy days when you may not be able to eat for a good few hours!
Keep on moving. You may not be able to get to the gym to do your scheduled workout but do not let that trick you into the ‘ah well I will try next week’ mindset. Focus on daily movement; walking the children to school (if you can), parking further away when you need to go to the shops. Find ways where you can add more steps to your day without overcomplicating things.
